Cubico's history
Cubico was established in 2004 by Paul Whitcombe and Ash Cairns as a one-truck operation to cart liquid waste product from a Abattoir in Wellington to a composting plant in Foxton.
In about 2005 the operation was expanded to service (the then) Levin Meats in Levin now the Alliance Group. This involved setting up a specialised vehicle to spread stickwater from the rendering plant onto nearby consented farmland.
In 2006 Cubico purchased the whey-spreading operation at Fonterra Longburn, Palmerston North. This is an operation that operates 6 truck & trailer units and spreads 55 - 60 million litres of whey over a concentrated period from September to December.
Cubico also provides specialised haulage for Fonterra of materials such as liquid stock food, water, sterilization materials. And Cubico undertakes the dispersal of materials such as unusable cream and other milk products.
With extensive knowledge and experience with discharge consent management, Cubico can assist in new applications and ensure our client's current consents are compliant.
Today the company operates a fleet of specialised truck & trailer tanker units which have been adapted to allow both line-haulage and in-paddock spreading services. A number of the vehicles have high-capacity pumping equipment so as to allow self-loading and unloading into bulk liquid storage facilities.
Cubico operates under the umbrella of the Cairns Group and so enjoys all the back office support from the Group's administration operation. Cubico also has access to the Group's engineering facility and so is able to develop specialised equipment to provide any particular ‘outside the square' solutions required by prospective clients.
